Arrival Time For Students
In order to provide appropriate supervision, children should arrive at Hawes School after 8:35 a.m. Students are considered on time if they are in their classrooms by 8:45. Communication with teachers in the morning is best done in writing. We request that everyone please cooperate with these guidelines that are designed to safeguard the children as well as to maintain the integrity of our instructional program.
Procedure for students leaving school
Children leaving school during school hours for any reason, including to go home for lunch, must be signed out in the school office. The responsible adult must report to the main office and complete the data in the sign-out book. For reasons of safety, students will be discharged directly from the office.
Hawes School has a voice mail for reporting absences. If your child is going to be absent or late please call 201-445-7319 before 9:15 a.m. even if you have informed the teacher. You may also use the school's absence e-mail account: email@example.com
A taped message will instruct you to give your name, your child's name, grade, teacher, reason for absence, and probable length of absence.
If your child is absent and you have not notified the school, you will be called at home or work. This ensures the safe whereabouts of you child/ren and eliminates the need for absence notes.
NOTE: If it is known in advance that a student will be out, please notify the teacher and the office before- hand.
